Pathway into accountancy: AAT Apprenticeship
Joined: July 2012
I left school after my GCSEs to begin an AAT Apprenticeship at Duncan & Toplis. This allowed me to obtain invaluable hands on experience whilst studying for my AAT Level 2, 3 and 4 qualifications. I had a one year break from professional training where I focused on improving my technical skills within the workplace. Following this I continued my development pathway to study for my ACA exams which I completed in August 2017, achieving my Chartered Accountant qualification.
I chose to join Duncan & Toplis because my sister, who also works here, always speaks so highly of the business and during my work experience placement with the team I was very well supported which encouraged me to pursue a career in accountancy.
The most satisfying part of my current role is being able to solve difficult accounting issues for clients. It is also rewarding for me to train and provide guidance to junior team members; seeing them improve over time and achieve their goals.
